Try to Remember and Follow

As Alice and I write our Christmas cards, the scent of the cinnamon candle and glow of the Christmas lights really brings a joy to our hearts and souls. And yet we are cognizant of so much suffering in too many places- some of which is preventable.

What a year it's been. In some ways it feels as though it was 24 months and also only 60 days long!

And with New Year's just a couple of weeks away, perhaps nostalgia AND looking forward capture different parts of your awareness. With that in mind, I include these lyrics from a song by The Brothers Four:

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh so mellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were young and callow fellow
Try to remember and if you remember
Then follow
Follow
Try to remember when life was so tender
That no-one wept except the willow
Try to remember when life was so tender
That dreams were kept beside your pillow
Try to remember when life was so tender
That love was an ember about to billow
Try to remember and if you remember
Then follow
Follow
Deep in December it's nice to remember
Although you know the snow will follow
Deep in December it's nice to remember
Without a hurt, the heart is hollow
Deep in December
It's nice to remember
The fire of September that made you mellow
Deep in December our hearts should remember and follow
Follow

Have a good weekend.
