A Mother's Hug Lasts Long After She Lets Go

She went by many names: Josephine, Josie, Jo or Nena. But I called her Mommy. On this special day, I remember my dear mother with much admiration and love. Her childhood left much to be desired yet she became a woman who deeply cared for others. She may have been petite in stature but she had an overflowing heart, always helping anyone in need. She was known to cook huge pots of food which were shared with family, friends and neighbors. Mommy was not only tender and strong but had a smile that went on forever.

She birthed two daughters, but she mothered grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings, cousins, friends and in-laws.

Happy Mother's Day!
